Dr. Jacob Klimstra at Cogeneration & On-Site Power Production recently released an online publication about the predictions of renewable energy in five years. "This June, Maria van der Hoeven, executive director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), cited its recent report by stating that in five years' time, 25% of the world's electricity supply will come from renewable sources. This will be predominantly the result of a steady growth in the installed capacity of wind turbines and photovoltaic panels. Generators based on biomass and biogas are also expected to contribute to the increase." Renewable energy is now heavily promoted because of the need to reduce the use of fossil fuels. "Ultimately, the prediction by the IEA about a gradual increase in the fraction of renewable electricity sources is a positive message for cogeneration and on-site power production. "
